About the Founder

Throughout my career, I noticed a common problem. Clinicians working toward independent licensure were relying on spreadsheets, paper forms, emails, text messages, and multiple disconnected systems to track clinical hours, documentation, competency development, and state-specific licensure requirements. Every state had different rules, forms, and timelines, creating unnecessary stress and administrative burden for professionals who should be focused on providing quality care to their clients.

I also recognized another significant challenge: simply finding a qualified, board-approved supervisor could be a frustrating and time-consuming process. Many clinicians spend weeks or even months searching for supervisors who meet their state's requirements, have availability, and are a good professional fit. There was no centralized, user-friendly platform to help connect supervisees with approved supervisors while also managing the supervision process itself.

Beyond the administrative challenges, I saw an opportunity to improve the overall professional development experience for clinicians. Too often, supervision becomes focused solely on accumulating hours and completing paperwork rather than intentionally developing the knowledge, skills, and professional judgment necessary for independent practice. Clinicians deserve tools that not only track their progress but actively support their growth throughout the licensure journey.

I created Ascend Clinical™ to solve these problems. My vision was to build a comprehensive platform where clinicians could connect with board-approved supervisors, navigate complex state requirements, organize professional documentation, and track their progress toward licensure—all in one place.

At the heart of Ascend is a commitment to developing better clinicians, not simply licensed clinicians. Through structured goal setting, competency tracking, reflective practice tools, supervision preparation resources, and Ember™, Ascend's integrated AI clinical coach, the platform helps clinicians identify strengths, recognize growth opportunities, prepare for supervision, and build confidence in their professional skills. Ember is designed to serve as an educational and developmental companion, providing coaching, guided reflection, and evidence-informed support while reinforcing that sound clinical judgment and quality supervision remain essential to professional practice.

My goal for Ascend has always been larger than simplifying paperwork. I want to create a platform that supports clinicians from the beginning of their professional journey through independent licensure by encouraging continuous learning, ethical practice, self-reflection, and professional excellence. I believe that clinicians who receive better support throughout their development become more competent, more confident, and ultimately provide better care to the individuals, families, and communities they serve.
